Our pre-project was making telephone from
string and plastic cups. Then we learned a little about sound and
the inventor of the phone, Mr. Alexander Graham Bell. We built a
			real telephone from
some old speakers, some pieces of wood and some wire. The cupcake
treats were fantastic! "Hello... Can you hear me?"

We built boats at this meeting.
Not just sailing boats, but POWER boats... Mouse trap powered boats to be more specific.
These little crafts, built by the boys (with a little help) were
able to travel about 10 feet down the track on a single wind up.
Check out the pictures and the video to watch them go...

Pumpkins
and Bats, and Ghoul Hands oh my! The guts of a thousand pumpkins
were strone from one side of the gym to the other as a band of
"Ghoul Scouts" attacked the poor holiday gourds with knives and
spoons. Poor pumpkins... they never stood a chance.

We normally do a Rocket Launch in the summer
but we were all to busy this year. Instead we waited until it got cold and grey...
(48 degrees N. Wind @ 5-10 mph) We built our rockets outside, huddled around
heaters. We cooked smores and built display stands for our rockets.
Even though it was cold and windy we were able to launch and only
			lost 1 rocket. (Sorry Matt...)

We
learned about levers (both big an small) and then used them to create our Progress Towards Ranks Badges,
to make Rank Buttons and to
			build a Rank Banner to
help us check off our achievements as we complete them. (For a more detailed description of the pack meeting, including plans, and handouts

Rain,
rain, go away.. we just want to camp today. No amount of rain could
keep these hearty scouts from camping. We cooked supper over camp
stoves and ran around between the rain drops. We went on a night
hike and a cleanup hike the next morning. We were pleasantly
surprised to find only a handful of garbage on the trails.

What
a great year... We ate chicken, and a pot-luck dinner while we
watched a slide show of all the pictures and videos taken during the
year. We were so busy eating, we forgot to take pictures of the
table decorations. After the award ceremony, we ran off all that
food by throwing gliders around the parking lot. A big thank you to
all the parents for making this year great!

We
started the meeting by building Mother's Day Cards from kits that
Mrs. Gates put together. The main project was a Flower Vase that we
etched with special chemicals. Then we made tissue paper flowers.

On
June 15th, 1752 in Philadelphia PA., Benjamin Franklin flew a kite
during a thunderstorm in a famous experiment with electricity. We
built and flew (not very high) a  recreation of the classic
diamond kite. Although lightening was not seen, we were all struck
with fun and frustration (darn nylon string).  (For a more detailed description of the pack meeting, including plans, and handouts

The

Although no one won their division, we had several boys proceed to

A pantograph is a mechanical linkage connected in
a special manner based on parallelograms so that the movement of one specified point is an amplified version of the movement of another point... At least

Gail
and Rick Edge graciously invited us into their home and provided us
with all of the materials to create some really cool Scrap Books.

Sunglasses
were mandatory for this waaay cool Pack Meeting. We built egg shaped

mean... (For a more detailed description of the pack meeting, including plans, and handouts

On

night.  (For a more detailed description of the pack meeting, including plans, and handouts

We

MODÈLE
MÉCANIQUE is French for Mechanical Model. We build a waving hand
that moved by turning a "crankshaft" that moved a "pitman" that
pushed a wire hand that revolved around a shaft. Lots of wire
bending that resulted in a lot of fun. (For a more detailed description of the pack meeting, including plans, and handouts

We
got to use a drill press, a jig saw, an osolating drum sander, and a

At
this meeting we built a Flipbook Viewing Machine and flipbook

We had a double project at this meeting. We built wooden

We went camping at Rock-Cut State Park. We built a fire, cooked hotdogs,
smores, and mini pies. We stayed up way to late telling ghost stories. The next morning we learned about map reading and using a compass.
We followed a map through the woods to discover a hidden treasure. (For a more detailed description of the pack meeting, including plans, and handouts

We tested out several types of rockets including a soda and Mentos engine, an Alka-Seltzer

out of a tree but he couldn't quite reach it. (For a more detailed description of the pack meeting, including plans, and handouts

The	build for this meeting was a gripper hand made from plastic pipe, steel

school. We picked up boards, paper, bicycle parts and even a cell phone. (For a more detailed description of the pack meeting, including plans, and handouts

The build for this meeting was a siege engine from the middle ages called a

On Guard! We built swords out of plastic tubing, swimming pool noodles,
duct, and electrical tape. They are called "boffing swords" and there are tournaments all over the country. We had our own right in the gym. We fought on the floor,

Pack Meeting 06-MAR-08 (The Hand of Fate) -No Pictures-

This build was an electrical project. We learned about circuits and electricity. We built a

Our build for this pack meeting was a mouse trap powered car. We used a drill press, a scroll
saw, and a power sander create all the parts that we needed. The wheels were very hard to attach to the axels but we finished the project and raced them all

The task for this meeting was to build and race a Cub Scout powered Go-Kart.
We broke into 3 teams and raced around the gym. We had to drive through a traffic cone course with the driver shouting out speeds to the motor. Then we tried

This was our first Pack Meeting of the Year. We went on a treasure hunt
to locate secret codes that were scattered around the school grounds. The codes solved a bigger puzzle and unlocked a secret message. After a snack, we
built clay snowmen, complete with scarves, buttons and a carrot for a nose. (For a more detailed description of the
